LOGO SYNOPSIS
1 Kings 17: 1-6
Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbite in Gilead, said to Ahab, “ As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.”
Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah: “ Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there.”
So he did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.
Cherith, like Kerith Ravine, parallels the scene as described in the scripture passage, a place prepared by God for the preservation of His beloved servant, in this case Elijah. God provided to ensure His beloved servant is nourished bodily and soul, and from there set off to accomplish the task given him amidst the ungodly, and in a harsh environment. All these happened for God’s very own purposes and glory.
God commanded Elijah to drink from the brook- water is essential to life, water gives life, and water is grace from God. Elijah serves God with fervor even amidst great difficulties, through complete obedience. May each individual life in Cherith, having received and drank from the water of life, be transformed into an obedient and faithful servant of the Lord, rekindled to go forth for the glory of God.
The logo is a simulation of a water droplet and a flame, two significant and representative symbols of the narrative.
